don't turn into one of them

H&M top, thrifted Forever 21 shorts, thrifted 1940's scarf, Gap bag, and Classified sandals.

I couldn't help myself when getting dressed yesterday. I had to go for polka dot overload. Which apparently made some people mad. While walking around on the streets a girl yelled out of her car, "That's too many polka dots for one outfit!" She obviously doesn't know I'm a circus clown part-time. Actually clowns scare me; as Carrie Bradshaw would say "nothing is scarier than a clown." I totally agree.

On a totally different note, I really love this scarf - it's so delicate. I love that it has tiny stick people jumping rope on it. I found it lost at Salvation Army and it ended up being 50 cents. I have to remember to wear it more often.

I hope you're having a wonderful weekend! I know I am enjoying the nice breezy summer weather. Don't forget to look for the meteor shower tonight!

Thrifted The Limited leather shorts, H&M polka dot top, Icing chain necklace, thrifted vintage sunglasses, Kathy Van Zeeland bag, and Restricted footwear wedges.

This outfit is very similar to this one I wore last summer. Except, this time I tweaked it with a good ol' pair of leather shorts. I know wearing leather as any kind of bottoms (skirts, pants, shorts, etc.), is a turn off for a lot of people. I, however, love leather skirts and shorts (I still won't wear leather pants don't worry).
After searching months - well years at this point - I finally found a pair. Every time I'd go to Salvation Army, I'd scour the racks, but would only come up with some ugly suede culottes.
I was so excited to wear them that I forgot to check all the pockets before I wore them (something I always do). To my surprise, there was a concert ticket for Faith Hill from 1995. Wacky.

I also got to take my new hippie sunglasses for a spin. Out of the blue one day, a basket of sunglasses appeared at Salvation Army. I bought pretty much all of them for 99 cents a piece.

Anyway kids, it's a beautiful Saturday. I'm off to enjoy it! Have a great weekend.

retro bikini

I haven't had a moment to spare to take an outfit post. We're having a family emergency and I've been tied up. So I thought I'd share with you a new bikini I purchased for myself the other day. I've been on the hunt for the perfect retro bikini, the problem is they are all $75+. Not really my price range. This one isn't exactly perfect, but at $35 (gotta love eBay!), it's a great deal. It's also super cute. I haven't received it yet, so here are some stock photos:

I love nautical, so I was immediately drawn to the anchor detailing. Plus, I've mentioned before that red, white, and blue are my favorite outfit colors of all time. I find my ensembles are accidentally patriotic a lot of the time. Plus, on top of everything I'm pear shaped, high waist/nipped waist look way better on me. Super flattering!
I can't wait for summer.

H&M polka dot turtleneck, Charlotte Russe trousers, Target ribbed socks, and Ferragamo patent leather flats (last seen HERE).

Just a few snapshots from Friday when my camera belched. It somehow churned out the worst photos of it's life, which is still puzzling to me. I'm praying it goes back to normal.
Friday was a cold and busy day. So I decided to forgo chicness and tap into nerd with these high socks and flats (a turtleneck helped that look too). Anyone who knows me will tell you I'm the biggest nerd alive, I definitely don't have a chic personality (or exterior for that matter haha). Long story short; I tapped into my inner frump. I felt obligated to wear these socks anyway since I got them for 62 cents. For that matter, I felt obligated to buy them. How can you turn down something useful that's 62 cents? That's basically free, I could go in my car and find more loose change than that.
Also, for those that are wondering (probably not many) I'm in my favorite chair at my shop. My mom and I found this 50 dollar chair at 50% off, it's gorgeous and comfortable.

I'm so exhausted, it's been a busy weekend. Plus today is my boy's birthday. Happy Birthday Brian! You're amazing.

H&M polka dot top, thrifted shorts, Restricted Footwear wedges, and Icing necklace and sunglasses.

During our time at the shop today, my mom and I roamed around and took these photos. Most of these were taken within 50 feet of the store front; it's nice to work in a place that's so beautiful!
We've been so busy working this week it was nice to take a little break and enjoy the sunshine.
As I'm writing this, I'm actually still wearing this outfit. It's so playful, that's what I love about polka dots!
These shorts are not very flattering on me, but I don't care. They are comfy and fun to romp around in. I got them at a huge sale at Salvation Army a few months back. It was 5 dollars to stuff a garbage bag, best sale ever! This polka dot top I got last summer at another crazy sale, only it was at H&M. It was one size too big but only $3 bucks. Kind of like how it fits better than my size.
Can't forget to mention this amazing chain necklace that I'm sure you've seen me wear before. I can't get enough of it lately. To me, it just adds the right pop to any outfit! It was scored in another crazy sale I encountered. 1o items for 10 bucks. I split the items with my niece because I couldn't even find 10 items! Now that I mention it, that's where these sunglasses came from too.

I'm heading off to kick start my weekend by having a wonderful dinner out with my boy. I can't wait to take advantage of my apartment's pool tomorrow, feels like I haven't been there all summer. Have a great weekend kids, and enjoy the summer weather while it lasts!

H&M polka dot halter, Charlotte Russe shorts and thrifted vintage mary janes.

Red, white, and blue have always been one of my favorite color combinations to wear. I own four pairs of navy shorts, countless red and white tops, and I won't even start on the dresses. Naturally, I find the first week of July to be the best time to give my red, white and blue tendencies free realm. This year I was so excited I wore the three colors all weekend.
This outfit I wore on our beautiful Independence Day, and it was so fun. This halter is one of my all time favorite shirts, so I love any chance to wear it. Also, I don't think these mary janes have left my feet all weekend. Hands down some of the comfiest shoes I own, and to think they were abandoned to a thrift store for me to find. I believe I got them for $1. It doesn't get better than that.

I hope everyone who celebrates our Independence Day had a wonderful time! I certainly did, with a parade and fireworks!

American Apparel leotard, Forever 21 pleated polka dot shorts, gifted scarf, Restricted Footwear wedges, and Rue 21 sunglasses.

Had a lovely little picnic at Hen Peck Park by the Erie Canal on Saturday. I'm so happy everything has become so green, the way the trees hang around the water is so beautiful. My boy and I picked up subs and a giant drink to share and lazed around. I'm loving being able to be outside again. It's been too long!
My parents gave me this amazing scarf, I love how it looks with plain polka dots. This is my first attempt at pattern mixing, not very daring I know. I've never really had the guts to pattern mix, I feel it would look too silly on me.
Finally posting about these sunglasses I got awhile back, I love the exaggerated lenses. See, I do wear more than my trusty black ones! I'm always wearing those when I post.
This leotard has quickly become a staple in my closet, I've always loved AA leotards. I happened to find this one on Ebay and ending up paying $2.50. I thought that it was a steal, especially for AA merchandise.

I've been trying to update more regularly but it's hard with my super exciting upcoming announcement. I've been busy! I'm hoping I'll be ready to share in a few posts. I'm dying to tell everyone!

xo for now.
