a year in review

Well today is the last day of 2012 and tomorrow will mark the 3 year anniversary of my blog! I can't believe I've been doing this for so long. I love it, it's a journal of my ever changing style. It's also a journal of the ever changing me. I think 2012 was a great year! Let's look back at some of my favorite outfits of 2012.

MORE: My new couch, 50's skirt from NYC, my awesome shoe shelf, and all my thoughtful Christmas gifts.

I honestly can't believe 2012 is over. It went by so quickly and brought on changes good and bad. I honestly grew as a person, made great new friends, and just enjoyed being alive.
Then there were the bad things. Getting lost in the woods (which makes a funny/pathetic story now), losing my Grandma, and not being as selfless as I could be.

I hope 2013 brings more great change and a sea of happiness for not just me, but everyone! I'm leaving you with one of the best changes I made in 2012, my hair!

Target dress, tights, and tiny santa hat, and gifted cardigan from Brian's ever giving and caring mom.

I spent a wonderful Christmas Eve with my boyfriend Brian's family. They are so fun. This cardigan was one of the things his mom gave me. She's always giving me the cutest stuff when she doesn't have to. She's super sweet.
With all the stuff she gave me, the beautiful peridot pendant from Brian, and all the wonderful gifts my parents got me (mom, I'm especially talking to you. You are too much!), I definitely was spoiled this year. Stop buying me so much guys! You really don't have to.
These photos were taken on Christmas at my parents. I got to bring my Plinko (pictured above) and Sig cat. They had a great Christmas too.

I must share the rest of my gifts. I especially love the owl utensil holder and measuring cup set my mom and dad gave me!

I have to go and rest because I currently feel like I'm dying. Have a great weekend!

Vintage 1960's skirt, thrifted turtleneck, years old Last Kiss coat, years old JC Penny hat, Target tights, vintage bag, and Betsey Johnson pumps.

I took these photos almost a week ago but just didn't have any time to post them. A lot has changed since then. I got 2 1/2" of my hair cut off and I love it, the whole world is now covered in snow, and sadly Christmas has passed. In my family we celebrate the 12 days of Christmas, which starts now and goes until the epiphany on January 6th. We don't give each other gifts everyday like in the song, but we do keep the spirit alive. The general public doesn't really, a lot of people I know took their trees down already. I can't do that!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday if you celebrate it! I had a pretty great one :)

Boyfriend's H&M sweater, Charlotte Russe shorts, Target scarf and tights, thrifted vintage bag, and Candie's oxfords.

I wore this outfit on a crazy day of running errands. I decided to go for slouchy comfort and borrowed Brian's sweater. I borrow this sweater from him a lot; I'm a sucker for stripes. The oxfords were also an excellent choice for a dressy, yet comfortable shoe.

I hope you're having a great time preparing for the upcoming holiday. If you don't celebrate Christmas, then I hope you're having a wonderful December.

Forever 21 one shoulder dress, Target cardigan and tights, gifted scarf and Dolce Vita Layna boots.

I had these photos ready to post on Friday, but after what happened I didn't think it was appropriate to post something as frivolous as an outfit.

I wore this outfit to work and then out on a date with Brian. It was super-fun and I was looking for any excuse to wear my glitter boots again. They are so comfortable.
I bought this dress for $4 at an end of summer clearance sale and hadn't worn it. It's one shoulder and very slinky. That's something that I'm not used to, so of course I had to add some grandma accents. The fact that the dress is a medium and still tight intrigues me. I can't even begin to wonder about how it would look as an extra small.

I loved adding a pop of color with my new favorite lipstick. The color is so rich and perfect for winter. I was expecting it to be more plum, but I like what it is even better.

I hope you're having a great start to your week. I have!

EDIT:
I decided from now on, I'll share where my obscure title posts come from.

Vera Wang Princess (a Kohl's line) sweater, H&M skinny jeans, thrifted vintage bag, and Target motorcycle boots (they're 3 years old now!).

There are some days that no matter how much you love dressing up, you need something comfortable. Yesterday I woke up on the wrong side of the bed with some mysterious illness. I was looking forward to wearing something super-festive and dressy. Needless to say, I wanted a simple comfortable outfit.
I was really excited because that meant I could wear my new sweater. I had been eyeing this black and neon number for months. The $50 price tag was not justifiable for a sweater in my eyes. I was very happy when I went into the store last week with my favorite $10 off coupon. There was one of these sweaters left and it ended up being $6. Quite the deal.
I love the classic navajo pattern with a neon twist. Plus, it's super-soft and has tiny metallic threads woven in.
Topping off the sweater with my favorite jeans and comfy boots was just what I needed. It's definitely not my most chic outfit, but it wouldn't be a realistic blog if that's all that I wore. Or rather, that's all that I showed you. I have a multi-faceted wardrobe with different outfits for certain purposes and I want to share them all! I really do love clothes way too much. Every piece I own I love so much I could talk about each one for hours. I guess that's the way to live though, wholeheartedly loving everything you wear.

I hope you're having a great week. I'm getting excited for the holiday and just finished decorating my apartment!
