Thrifted sailor shirt, vintage 40's Bobbie Brooks shorts, gap bag, years and years old sunglasses, and Metaphor pumps.

Who wears ridiculously themed outfits? This girl right here. I decided to go all out with my sailor outfit today. I broke out these 40's sailor shorts which were actually my first vintage purchase ever. I haven't worn them in a long time. They were missed! I did realize why I don't wear them that often as soon I sat down. The fabric doesn't stretch at all, so as soon as my legs widen on a seat they get SUPER tight. I thought they were going to burst right open. Good thing they didn't as that would be embarrassing.

I knotted my new sailor top (I'm huge into tying my shirts like that, I don't know why) which I didn't originally buy for myself. A client called and said she needed some 40's era war-time looking clothing. I bought this for her and she never got back to me! I guess keeping it was a perk seeing as I'm obsessed with sailor attire.
I added in some lady-like pumps and BAM! You have a ridiculous outfit. I love it.

I'm off to start a summer weekend of fun. Have a great one!

retro bikini

I haven't had a moment to spare to take an outfit post. We're having a family emergency and I've been tied up. So I thought I'd share with you a new bikini I purchased for myself the other day. I've been on the hunt for the perfect retro bikini, the problem is they are all $75+. Not really my price range. This one isn't exactly perfect, but at $35 (gotta love eBay!), it's a great deal. It's also super cute. I haven't received it yet, so here are some stock photos:

I love nautical, so I was immediately drawn to the anchor detailing. Plus, I've mentioned before that red, white, and blue are my favorite outfit colors of all time. I find my ensembles are accidentally patriotic a lot of the time. Plus, on top of everything I'm pear shaped, high waist/nipped waist look way better on me. Super flattering!
I can't wait for summer.

the weather that howls in my brain

Forever 21 sailor dress.

I meant to post these photos way earlier, seeing as they were from a picnic Brian and I had on Saturday. Life just got the best of me, so did the weather that day. It was a blazing 90+ and we only managed to stay outside for 20 minutes. We ate our food quickly then took off for the air conditioning.
Anyway, part of the reason I didn't get to post this earlier is because Brian, my parents and I all went to a free Bright Eyes concert on Wednesday. Some of you may recall my trip to NYC last March to see Conor Oberst and crew at Radio City Music Hall. I was delighted to find out I could see them again, FREE, and only an hour and a half away!
Bright Eyes has been my favorite band for 7 years now, and a very big part of my life. Here are some photos of my idol, Conor Oberst himself:

Of course I had to wear a Bright Eyes shirt. The show was absolutely magical!

I hope everyone is having a lovely Friday, I'm probably staying in tonight to recover from a strange stomach bug going around.

Forever 21 sailor dress, and thrifted vintage flats.

Just sharing a few shots of what I wore to work today. My mom got an iPhone so we were playing around with it.
I've wanted a dress like this for as long as I can remember and got this one from Forever 21 on ebay at a discounted price. I am pretty much obsessed with anything having to do with being a sailor, or nautical. I also love red, white, and blue combos even in the middle of Winter. It's almost a problem, I need to go to nautical rehab.
The simplicity of this outfit is everything Summer style should be: easy and breezy. I can't wait for super hot weather to come!

I leave you with:
