seasons change and so did I

Forever 21 Shift and 1960's Bloomingdale's boots.

Okay.
Let's forget that this outfit is not very summery for a second so we can talk about these boots.
These boots.
They are authentic high-heeled suede boots from the late 1960's. And on top of everything they came from a Bloomingdale's in New Jersey that doesn't exist anymore.
For those of you that aren't well versed in vintage, these are the find of a lifetime.
At the time, they were no doubt super expensive and the quality just blows me away.
I hope they attended some kick ass concerts and traversed their way all over the greater NYC area. I am curious to know what they've seen.
I wore this outfit about a month ago when the weather wasn't as scorching as it is now. I was in the middle of the busiest month of my life and settled on wearing a shapeless shift dress to be comfortable.
Now that it's warm I hope I can wear some of my great vintage summer pieces and snap a few outfit photos for you!
I'm finally starting to feel like myself again after a month of traveling and being on the go non-stop. Here's to the dog days of summer and taking it easy!

looking for adventure and whatever comes our way

Dat double chin tho.
Vintage 1960's dress, years old Charlotte Russe jacket, and years old Aldo wedges.

If you've been around awhile, you may recall that I blogged about this dress last year. Since it cooled off a bit, I styled it a bit differently. I just can't let it pass by without being photographed again. It's a superstar that deserves some attention.
The only problem I have with it is that it fits like a glove. A skintight glove. I can't really eat much when I wear it, I learned that the hard way. So next time I wear it, it won't be for long. Also, the shorts that are attached to the bottom kept ripping at the seam all day. Good thing you couldn't see my butt or you'd just see a giant split in my pants. I felt like Chris Farley or something.
Maybe it's time to find a better home for it where it can truly be appreciated. The problem with that is, it's one of my vintage babies. And like any good mama, I have an attachment to them.
I do own a lot of clothing, it's true. While that might seem materialistic to some, I view my collection as an extension of who I am on the inside. I try to only buy things I truly love because otherwise what's the point? We have limited time on this earth, might as well love and value everything we have. Plus, hunting for vintage treasures is fun. I mean, I made a business out of it.

spots on spots

IMG_4968Candies dress from Kohl's, years old belt, vintage necklace, and vintage Ferragamo Vara flats.

A few weeks ago, I received a $10 off anything coupon at Kohl's(no, I'm not sponsored). So I went in to peruse the clearance rack and fell in love with this dress. With the coupon it ended up being like $2. Since it's a sweater dress I didn't know if I'd be able to wear it. Well, it cooled off just enough for me to put it on!
Normally, I'd dress a piece like this up. On this particular day, I was tired. So, I put on my dressiest flats and a fancy necklace and called it day.
Still comfy, but put together. A marriage of the two best things in style(to me anyway).

Here's a bad, yet so good 80s song to start your weekend right:

classic yellow

1950's gingham dress and BCBGeneration pumps

The weather has become so nice in such a short period of time. I'm now graced with the opportunity of wearing pretty much anything I want in my closet. While browsing through dresses that have been put away for months, I came across this lovely yellow beauty. I only got to wear it once last year and I'll admit, I forgot she existed. I'm so excited to be able to break out pieces that haven't seen the light of day in so long.
Long live the sunshine!

lift up the receiver I'll make you a believer

1960's coat, 1960's dress, and Miu Miu SS 2010 Clogs

This dress gives me life. I can't really explain why. It's something that normally wouldn't be my style. Maybe it's the little cherub print and the sailor collar. It makes it a little tacky, which just speaks my language. Also, it almost looks like a little girls dress. I find myself loving little girls dresses and wishing they were my size...so there's that. Something a 25 year old shouldn't like, let alone admit out loud.
I'm just super into the dress. When I bought it from a young gentleman who brought it to my shop, I almost yelled in excitement when he showed me. My mom gave me the weirdest look and said something like, "You love that?"
I laughed

I'm also super-happy that I got to take my Miu Miu clogs for another spin. Sometimes I still can't believe I own a pair of shoes from my dream collection. It's crazy how the Spring/Summer 2010 collection caused such hysteria. People were so crazy for it that there were knock-offs that people were fighting over almost two years after!
That's just a little too crazy for me. I just found these by accident on eBay.
Remember, there is no shoe worth getting into a physical fight for.
Life will go on.

where palm trees sway

Hello I'm Morgan. I'm not dead. After I got back from Mexico I was very sick for two weeks. I had planned to immediately share photos from my trip. That obviously didn't happen, so here are some now! Better late than never right?

Vintage 1980's sundress, thrifted hat, years old Marshall's sandals.

Let's just say Caribbean life agrees with me. The sunshine, the breeze, and being able to wear sundresses whenever I want! I got this dress back in December and was sad that I would have to wait months to wear it. Then the solution hit - take it with me! I loved wearing it so much that I wore it twice during the trip.
Life is so much easier when I can wake up to sunshine, throw on a dress, and be out the door. Such simplicity.

My time in Mexico really taught me that I honestly loathe any temperatures below 40 degrees. I'm just not suited for life here (is anyone suited for this winter?).

How is your winter going?
