Forever 21 romper, gifted sandals and sunglasses (don't know where they're from sorry!)

Here I am, about a month late sharing my Cancun photos. Business picked up when I got home, so I had a lot of adult life things to take care of.
I'm so excited to share this post because of this romper. A year ago I never would have worn it. I would have been deathly self-conscious and afraid. I have struggled a lot with showing skin and owning my body. There are a lot of reasons as to why, but I won't get into that.
What I will say is that I went into 2019 ready to challenge myself. Even in a small way like this.
It's a new year, it was time to leave all that baggage behind.
I practically had to when I found this romper anyway. It screamed my name and was the only one left in the store which happened to be my size. On top of that, it ended up being 4 bucks.
4 bucks for the 70's-inspired romper of my dreams?
Yes, please.
This particular day we toured a Mayan ruin. That's what all the stonework is in the photos. I've been to it a few times now, but it never ceases to amaze me. The fact that it's been there for a thousand years really puts life into perspective for me.

Mexico was really good for me. I was fortunate enough to go. 10 years ago, I never thought I'd ever see Mexico - let alone get to stay at a gorgeous resort.
I recharged, refocused, took time to assess what's really important in life. Now that I'm back, I'm mentally in a much better place. Reaching for things and making things happen.
It's already paying off.
In life, you have to put in what you want to receive.
But I won't bore you.
I have a random collection of photos from my vacation that I'll share next. A photo diary of my trip if you will.
I'm still working on my vlog as well - just having some technical problems (as usual).

xx,
Morgan

Dog Days Are Over

 1960's playsuit and flats.
I have over 40 pairs of sunglasses because I am an unreasonable excessive person, so I cannot tell you where they came from.

Okay, let's talk about a few aspects of these photos. Firstly, you will notice the unseasonable choice of clothing. That's because I am so bad at blogging that I took these photos in July and never uploaded them. Taking the photos is the easy part, getting them into the computer and onto blogger is the lazy girl's(me) nightmare.
Secondly, yes I actually wore this outfit to go to the park and also to the beach. It wasn't just me throwing this on to trot around for the photos. No this playsuit got a workout and got sweaty. That just shows what an impractical person I am.
Tacky and obscene.
And I wouldn't have it any other way.
This playsuit is actually one of my treasures. If you've been around awhile, you know that I respect all my vintage clothes. They are surviving artifacts of the past.
That being said, do you know hard these motherfuckers are to find? My line of work revolves around vintage and I've been doing this for five years now. I've only come across about a handful of playsuits. So the second I found one that fit me, of course it came home. It has a cute matching jacket, but I can't bring myself to be that tacky just yet. One day.
Lastly, this was so long ago that my hair hasn't been blond for three months. It's been green.
Photos to follow.
I swear.

two thousand and sixteen. six years of blogging.

The start of every new year reminds me that it's the anniversary of this blog. Six years ago, a bored and lonely girl started this as a way to document her dumb outfits. 2015 was definitely the weakest year for my blog. You'll see with the outfit recaps of the past year, that I missed some months. 2015 was a rough year, but the new millennium is a teenager so we shouldn't expect anything less. Teenagers are rough to deal with after all.
I lost my drive to blog and honestly lost my motivation to put together any kind of fashion-y outfit. I think my depression really contributed to this. I can't recall a year where it hit me harder. I know a lot of people felt the same way as I do. So to all of you out there who struggled with 2015, let's cheer to 2016. It will be better.

Here were my favorite outfits from my posts of 2015:

January
Jan
April
april
May
may
August
August
September
september
October
October
November
November
Every one of these outfits feature some of my favorite vintage in my collection(minus the overalls outfit). 2015 brought so many beautiful vintage pieces to my own closet. It helped me fill in my collection and now I'm never struggling to find something from the past to represent the business. Like I've said many times before, I love owning pieces from the past. They hold so much meaning to me, the way possessions should(before crossing into hoarder territory). They should be able to tell a story, not just be something materialistic that exists only for you to show off. That's how I see it in my world anyway.

2015 had its ups and downs that's for sure. I had some experiences that I wouldn't trade for anything this past year. In January, I got to return to Cancun with Brian's family and it was such a wonderful time. I feel incredibly lucky.
In March, Brian and I went to PAX East, which is a gaming convention. It was a whirlwind and when I look back, I can't believe it happened. That whole weekend, we ended up hanging out and partying with internet personalities that I've respected for years. It was so surreal.
At the end of July I found out that I was on the COVER of a local magazine. That was crazy! I got to go to Barnes and Noble and see the display of a thousand pictures of my faces staring back at me. It made me nervous to tell you the truth!
In October, I took Brian to see The Distant Worlds concert. An orchestra plays all of the Final Fantasy songs while they project images from all the games. I cried. It was so moving.

There are probably a thousand more moments I could share, so I won't bore you to death. I'll just leave you with one of the greatest things to come out of 2015. New music from BIGBANG. This one is just G-Dragon and T.O.P but it's my favorite of the SEVEN new videos they managed to put out:

popsicle love and pie crust promises

IMG_4989
IMG_4990 IMG_4986 IMG_4994 IMG_4984 IMG_4983 IMG_4977 IMG_4997 IMG_4981 Vintage 1960's two-piece outfit, Rue 21 sunglasses, and BCBG Max Azria sandals.

Well, I haven't blogged in a minute. More than a minute - it's been since May to be exact. I don't really have a reason either. Call it the summer lazies, being busy with work, or just being unmotivated. But I really feel like a fool.
So just for me, I'm going to try to blog more.

Anyway, my summer has been all about the two-piece outfit.  I have a handful, all from different decades. I just love them. I wore a different one today, in fact.
There's something about it that makes you look so put together, when in reality it's effortless.
This one reminds me of candy, or popsicles, or just summertime in general. You'd think that with its pastel colors, it'd be a great warm weather staple. It's not. It's actually made from a very thick linen and is incredibly warm. I had to wait for a cooler day to take it for a spin.
At least it will be a piece of everlasting summer during some cool fall days.

I hope you're having the summer of your life. I'm just enjoying the easiness of it all.
Summertime and the livin' is easy.

spots on spots

IMG_4968Candies dress from Kohl's, years old belt, vintage necklace, and vintage Ferragamo Vara flats.

A few weeks ago, I received a $10 off anything coupon at Kohl's(no, I'm not sponsored). So I went in to peruse the clearance rack and fell in love with this dress. With the coupon it ended up being like $2. Since it's a sweater dress I didn't know if I'd be able to wear it. Well, it cooled off just enough for me to put it on!
Normally, I'd dress a piece like this up. On this particular day, I was tired. So, I put on my dressiest flats and a fancy necklace and called it day.
Still comfy, but put together. A marriage of the two best things in style(to me anyway).

Here's a bad, yet so good 80s song to start your weekend right:

lift up the receiver I'll make you a believer

1960's coat, 1960's dress, and Miu Miu SS 2010 Clogs

This dress gives me life. I can't really explain why. It's something that normally wouldn't be my style. Maybe it's the little cherub print and the sailor collar. It makes it a little tacky, which just speaks my language. Also, it almost looks like a little girls dress. I find myself loving little girls dresses and wishing they were my size...so there's that. Something a 25 year old shouldn't like, let alone admit out loud.
I'm just super into the dress. When I bought it from a young gentleman who brought it to my shop, I almost yelled in excitement when he showed me. My mom gave me the weirdest look and said something like, "You love that?"
I laughed

I'm also super-happy that I got to take my Miu Miu clogs for another spin. Sometimes I still can't believe I own a pair of shoes from my dream collection. It's crazy how the Spring/Summer 2010 collection caused such hysteria. People were so crazy for it that there were knock-offs that people were fighting over almost two years after!
That's just a little too crazy for me. I just found these by accident on eBay.
Remember, there is no shoe worth getting into a physical fight for.
Life will go on.
