blast from the past

Thrifted 60's forest green cardigan, Forever 21 tee and anchor necklace, thrifted 90's Levi's, and thrifted Bass loafers.

Took some crappy self timer shots at work today while it was slow. I threw on this outfit in 5 minutes and didn't realize I looked like I walked straight out the 90's. Big cardigan, high waist Levi's and loafers. Okay, maybe I looked more like a boy from the 90's...
Speaking of boys and loafers, boys HATE them (unless they're my dad but he loves loafers in general and is not really a boy). My boyfriend makes fun of me mercilessly when I wear them and hopes one day I'll wake up and realize how ugly they are. (I realize this fully, I can just see the charm in ugly garments).
Overall, a comfortable outfit for a pretty dreary day. Which was super depressing. Going from 75 degrees back to 40 is almost unbearable. The only bright side of this situation is I can still wear all my sweaters and heavy coats. I was not really ready to put them all away anyway.

Hope you're having a lovely week!

Missoni for Target cardigan, boyfriend's old v-neck, years old Zana Di jeans, and BCBG Generation pumps.

In my beloved cardigan in a pretty lax outfit at work. It's been so gloomy here the past few days, I figured a pop of color would brighten my spirits. I love how colorful most of Missoni for Target stuff is. It brings a little southwestern sun to our Western New York winter.
I've been on a jeans kick lately, I've been trying on all my old pairs to see which fit still. These old skinny jeans fit me really nicely, I'll have to break them out more often. There's nothing like trying on an old favorite pair of denim, it's like reconnecting with a lost friend.

I probably should have written this after I had something to eat. Oh well, tummy rumbling has never hurt anyone.

Missoni for Target cardigan, Forever 21 tee, Express jeans, gifted scarf, and Aldo segura pumps.

There's nothing like wearing your favorite slouchy jeans, a nice comfy cardigan, and the tiniest (they're a size 5), tallest pumps you own. I love these shoes and don't wear them enough. I'm just fortunate I can wear them right now due to no snow on the ground. I really like that.
I'm not really into matching shoes with my outfit but, on this particular day I wanted to. I like the end result.
This is the first time I'm wearing my blue Missoni for Target cardigan. I picked it up on clearance about a month ago. It's so comfy, warm, and easy to wear. Perfect for wearing all Winter. Although, if the weather keeps up there won't be much of a Winter. Here's hoping!

the transition

Kohl's sweater, vintage Levi's, and American Eagle moccasins.

With the end of September comes this official changing of seasons. The leaves start to change, the breeze has a chill, and I start slipping into sweaters and jeans. The end of warm weather always makes me a little depressed and more likely to reach for comfy flats instead of heels. I'm trying to break that pattern by investing in some closed toed heels. (All mine seem to be sandals or peep toes!)
I woke up this morning confronted by gray skies and groaned. I just did not want to dress up, so I reached for this cropped sweater that I hadn't worn yet. I got it for free (YES FREE!) with a Kohl's coupon that I get every month, I don't why I just do. I feel like I'm stealing from the store, and yes I promise you this is not a Kohl's promotion. I don't really like the store, but why not get free stuff?
It surprised me that I had to get a large, but the small looked ridiculous. I paired it with my vintage Levi's which are a lot bigger on me than when I last wore them. Gosh darn weight loss. I'm not complaining, that's sarcasm. Looks like I'll have to get a new pair from Salvation Army. Except now, they've all disappeared. There used to be 439583049 of them, that's right 439583049. I guess other girls want to wear mom jeans too. Or maybe they just want to look like a bad-ass from the 80's? That's probably more likely. Heh heh.

I'm off to start my weekend by watching The Adjustment Bureau and eat fistfuls of ring pops.
Have a great first day of October and a happy Saturday!

Vintage Chanel scarf and flats, thrifted vintage Levi's shorts, Target tee, vintage Ray-Ban sunglasses, Kohl's three ring set, and Forever 21 connector ring.

Took most of these photos while running errands on the Target walkway, mid way through my camera died. So we had to take the rest at home. It's funny how people think it's strange for us to be taking photos on the sidewalk. I guess when I stop and think about it, it is strange.
I digress. Since I have a cold I really wanted to stay casual today, hence the tee and jean shorts. Adding a silk scarf helps one feel better as well. Sometimes just a simple outfit is a breath of fresh air whether you're sick or not. Not having to think about what I'm wearing was nice.
Looking over my photos, I realized everything (minus the shoes) I'm wearing I got for under 15 bucks. The scarf was $12. An amazing find back in February at a local consignment shop. I'm 90% positive it's authentic Chanel from the 80's. The "made in Italy" on it is the only thing I'm iffy about.
Here's the full spread:

Anyway, today was my boy's three and a half year mark. I know it's strange we celebrate half anniversary's. He totally spoiled me by taking me to a special dinner, I'm a lucky gal! What I'm happiest about though is he took two days off from work to spend with me :)
So, I'm off to enjoy my night with my baby.

Thrifted Land's End silk blazer, Forever 21 floral mary janes and tee, vintage shorts and necklace.

I'm always a sucker for a nice long blazer, although I'm not used to pairing them with shorts. I was envisioning wearing this with jeans but when I peeked outside this morning, there was sun! So I traded pants for shorts to enjoy what's probably the last of the summer temps. There is nothing like a breezy blazer on a beautiful day. Especially one in baby pink! It's a nice change from my normal colorless ensembles.
This is also the first time I've worn my floral mary janes, I know I've had these since July but never got around to wearing them. They are very tall, but very comfortable. I felt like I could wear them all day. Mastering walking in them takes awhile though ha ha.

I'm taking off for the night! Have a great weekend!

1989

almost vintage handed down Rolling Stones tee, vintage Levi's shorts, Icing sunglasses, and Restricted wedges.

Today definitely felt like a t-shirt and messy up-do day. I don't wear t-shirt's that often and have been trying to expand my collection, especially of vintage band tee's. When I had expressed my interest to my parents; my dad gave me his shirt from a Rolling Stone concert he had went to. Back in 1989, at the time of this concert I was only a few weeks old, my parents left me with my brother and jammed out. Seeing that my birthday is this Sunday, it makes the shirt almost 22 years old.
Going with the theme of 1989, I paired my shirt with Levi's from the 80's. When I bought the shorts I was confused as to why they had a orange tab on the butt rather than red. I did a little googling and found out that orange tabs were to signify jeans that were made in China. The red tabs were jeans still made in the USA. When Levi's started making all jeans in China, they went back to using a red tab exclusively. Orange tab jeans are suppose to be of a lesser quality, but a collector's item now. So interesting.

It's been a long day, time to kick back with a Little Caesar's pizza. I know, awful for me but so good.

PS: I know I wear these shoes way too much. Sooooo comfortable.

H&M polka dot top, thrifted shorts, Restricted Footwear wedges, and Icing necklace and sunglasses.

During our time at the shop today, my mom and I roamed around and took these photos. Most of these were taken within 50 feet of the store front; it's nice to work in a place that's so beautiful!
We've been so busy working this week it was nice to take a little break and enjoy the sunshine.
As I'm writing this, I'm actually still wearing this outfit. It's so playful, that's what I love about polka dots!
These shorts are not very flattering on me, but I don't care. They are comfy and fun to romp around in. I got them at a huge sale at Salvation Army a few months back. It was 5 dollars to stuff a garbage bag, best sale ever! This polka dot top I got last summer at another crazy sale, only it was at H&M. It was one size too big but only $3 bucks. Kind of like how it fits better than my size.
Can't forget to mention this amazing chain necklace that I'm sure you've seen me wear before. I can't get enough of it lately. To me, it just adds the right pop to any outfit! It was scored in another crazy sale I encountered. 1o items for 10 bucks. I split the items with my niece because I couldn't even find 10 items! Now that I mention it, that's where these sunglasses came from too.

I'm heading off to kick start my weekend by having a wonderful dinner out with my boy. I can't wait to take advantage of my apartment's pool tomorrow, feels like I haven't been there all summer. Have a great weekend kids, and enjoy the summer weather while it lasts!
