Vintage 1940's sweater dress, Betsey Johnson leather belt, and Forever 21 platforms.

This beautiful dress was a gift from Brian's amazing mom. I think she bought it with the intention of me putting it in the shop, but when it fit me perfectly I knew I couldn't part with it! It's truly a showstopper. I never thought a sweater dress could move and flow the way this one does. The quality of vintage clothing never ceases to wow me, no matter how many years I've been buying it.

My messy, disheveled hair always seems to be an accessory to some elegant vintage dress I own. I can't seem to do anything with it and sometimes it just looks wrong. But you know what? That's 100% me. I'm always disheveled and a little off kilter and I'm okay with that.
I wouldn't have it any other way. It's too tiring to try and hide all the weird parts of me anyway. It would take way too much time.

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving! We spent ours with my family and Brian's family. My two little fams came together as one. It was great!

1950's dress, years old socks, and BCBGeneration pumps.

I know it's 5 days late, but I love you all so much and wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas (if you don't celebrate I hope you had a wonderful year).
As you can tell by the Santa socks, I get as excited for the holidays as those grandmas who wear ugly Christmas sweaters unironically.
So I channeled all that excitement into an outfit that made me look like a Christmas package.
And nothing screams Christmas package to me more than this 50's dress from my personal vintage collection. I had been waiting to wear it, because it's just too special. The bouffant skirt just makes my heart melt and has always reminded me of the ugly stepsisters from Cinderella.
I've also owned it for over a year and just found the label. It's located in the bottom of the zipper. I had accepted that I would probably never know where it came from.
I Googled the name (which I can't remember off the top of my head) and another dress almost identical to this one came up (it was hot pink)! That made me extremely gleeful. The label was a specialized boutique in NYC that made lots of eccentric garb. Gotta love it.

I know I haven't updated a lot in the past 6 months and that's honestly made me depressed. I love blogging and I love blogging for myself even if no one reads this. It's a great creative outlet and forces me outside the box a lot style-wise. I've just been in a rut with how busy I am with my new shop (which is amazing and I wouldn't trade anything for that), but I just want to get back into the swing of things. So, New Year's resolution is to get back on the blogging train.
Cheers to 2014 and all the places it may lead you.

Thrifted Only dress, years old leather belt, gifted sunglasses and Betsey Johnson pumps.

I knew I needed to buy this dress as soon as I saw it hanging on the racks. The fact that it fit me perfectly only solidified the fact that I was going to buy it and wear it a million times. This was my first spin in it and I'm already addicted. I love the stripes, the shape, the skirt, and everything else about it. Even though it has crazy stripes, it's so versatile. I can wear it alone in the warmer months and layer it for cooler months. If you don't have a dress like that in your closet, I suggest you invest in one! It will make life a lot more fun.

I have to give a big thank you to Brian's sweet mom who got me these awesome sunglasses. They're perfect for me. I've had them a little over a week and have worn them a bunch of times already. Red sunglasses are perfect for summer!

I hope you're having a wonderful week!

Thrifted Target dress worn as a shirt, H&M skirt, Kathy Van Zeeland bag, and Miu Miu SS2010 clogs.

This skirt is another piece I picked up from the "going out of business sale" back in January. As soon as it hit 70 degrees, I knew it would be the first thing I wore.
I don't have a lot of white lace in my closet and after wearing this, I know I want more. Sometimes you just have to wear something that's over the top girly when it's warm (guys I'm looking at you too).

I have a confession to make: I fully intended on wearing these clogs all day but I had to take them off. The reason I haven't been wearing heels a lot lately is because I have nasty shin splints. They are really painful and I'm missing wearing heels! I can't wait until they feel better - I won't be able to take my high heels off.

Well, it's late and I hope you're getting some good sleep. I'm going to waste the next hour on YouTube.

P.S. It's bittersweet to say that this will be the last time I'm at my favorite photo spot. It's in Honeoye Falls and I'm finally all moved out and about to open on Park Ave!

Thrifted skirt, H&M shirt, thrifted Nine West coat, Target tights, and Forver 21 Mary Janes.

I decided to put on some super-girlie, red and pink clothes for Valentine's Day. I sprung for this skirt, because every time I open my closet, there it is staring at me. I haven't worn it since I bought it almost a year ago. It has a pretty funny story associated with it. I saw it sitting on the rack and thought it was cute. I held it up against my waist and thought it would fit. When I got to the dressing room I saw the label. It's from The Children's Place and is a child's size 6. It fit me fine so I bought it anyway. I know my waist is small at 25" but I can't imagine a 6 year old fitting in it. It just goes to show you, you never know what interesting things await you at Salvation Army.

Another piece I was dying to wear was my Nine West coat. I got it for $12 at Volunteers of America and it's been way too cold to wear it. Luckily, I got to wear it a few times in the fall. You can't really tell from the photos, but it has a very beautiful embroidery pattern all over it. The details can really make a piece.

Well, I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day and have a wonderful weekend. Brian and I are going to see Wreck-It Ralph at the dollar theater tonight. I'm excited!

cozy sweater thursday

Thrifted Liz Claiborne sweater, H&M skinny jeans, Kohl's velvet headband, thrifted bag, and Miu Miu SS2010 clogs.

Thursdays have become a cozy sweater day in my world. Normally by this point in the week I'm a little burnt out and want something to wrap myself in. By Friday I'm ready to dress up again. This particular cozy sweater I found brand new at Salvation Army for $2.50. It would be incredibly warm, but the little eyelets welcome the breeze to cut right through. It's a small price to pay for a nifty sweater.

Of course I have to pair my comfy knit with my favorite pair of jeans! I still can't say enough good things about them. I don't know why I didn't try H&M for jeans years ago. I also got to wear my always-loved Miu Mius. It was perfect weather for them - dry, sunny, and not too warm. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.

P.S. It was my first time wearing this awesome headband. I predict us having a long, loving relationship.

I'm off to go watch football (against my will) and pig out. I hope you have a great end to your week!

Sugarlips Neptune Cadet dress, Target cross body purse, Icing chain necklace, eBay sunglasses, and Aldo Smeal heels.

This gorgeous dress is courtesy of Sugarlips (click to go the website)! I was so excited to wear it without a jacket due to a warm spell we've had. It's super soft and comfortable, even though it's sparkly. That's a problem I have with a lot of metallic knits, they're incredibly itchy. Not this dress! I love that the cut is so flattering. I usually feel super self-conscious when I wear a body-con dress. This one hugged me in all the right places (thank goodness! I don't want to look like a sausage in a tube sock). The cut really reminded me Carrie Bradshaw's dress from season two of Sex and the City. Simple, yet fabulous.

I love the whole alien/space cadet vibe the dress has going on. The silver lame really looks like liquid when it's on, so cool! I'm going to wear it again tomorrow for date night. Normally I have trouble styling body-con dresses, but I found the silver actually made it easier (I thought it'd be harder!). My heavy chain necklace went perfectly. That necklace was a great investment, it goes with everything.

Instead going for a casual daytime look, I went for a bold one. I wore my favorite studded shoes and added matching silver eyeshadow. I definitely stood out (I love looking like a space cadet). Next time I'm going to wear bright yellow eyeshadow to match the crazy zipper! I love it.

I hope your week is going splendidly. Mine's been super busy yet exciting!
