Vintage blazer, thrifted silk blouse, Forever 21 two-tone jeans, and Acne Atacoma boots.

Winter is still in full-swing here. That makes me angry and depressed. And nothing signifies that more than an all black outfit. Maybe it's because I'm an east coast gal, but wearing all black is easy for me. When I'm stumped in the morning, I don't have to think about what goes with what.

The major black piece that's a power player in this outfit is the blazer. I nearly fainted when I found this blazer, it's that perfect to me. Admittedly, I don't wear it enough, but it's just AMAZING. I love menswear for women, but I have a particular penchant for tuxedo-wear for women. Along with this piece, I have two tuxedo-themed dresses (one seen HERE) and probably some shirts too. Maybe it's because I love dressing up, or maybe it's because I love men in suits so much that I want to wear one? I do love a good suit.

Whenever I'm a little down I break out my special Acne Atacomas. If you want to read their story you can here.

Side note: Why am I significantly paler this year than I EVER HAVE BEEN? It's frustrating! Did I die without realizing I was dead? AM I A GHOST? None of my foundation is the right color anymore! BLAHHH.

Thrifted sweater, gifted high waist jeans, years old Target boots, vintage 60's coat, gifted purse, Five Below sunglasses, and Deathly Hallows necklace from eBay.

Let's be honest, everyday can't be a dressed up creative outfit kind of day. Sometimes I wake up cranky, or more recently I've been waking up hating the cold. Sometimes I wear things that are very casual and I think it wouldn't be a realistic look into my life without showing you this.
So on this particularly frigid day, what do I wear? A man sweater. This is legitimately a man's sweater. I like to shop for clothes in the men's section at Salvation Army. Why? Because sometimes I like a men's fit. More recently it's because Salvation Army has turned completely ridiculous and is pricing all the women's clothing WAY TOO HIGH. The men's clothing is still dirt cheap. They really think women will pay $80 for a used, pill-infested coat. I SHIT YOU NOT. 80 BUCKS.
They think that they can take advantage of the women because mostly women shop there.
Complete bullshit.

Anyway, that rant aside...my best friend gave me these incredible high waist jeans. She ordered them for herself and they were too small for her (sad face). She was nice enough to give them to me and I LOVE them.
A lot of people hate hight waist/pants and dub them as mom jeans. I think I spoke briefly of this in my last post, but I don't care. I LOVE THEM.
Proud card carrying member of the mom jean cult.

I hope your week is going well and you're staying warm. It's still so cold here!

Plinko totally planned that photobomb.

Forever 21 faux collar top, Target cardigan, vintage Versace pants, Five Below sunglasses and vintage loafers.

It may look as though I was trying to be artsy during this photo session, but honestly it was because it was the only way to get clear photos with my self-timer. I fumbled around for a half hour trying to get a good set up and ended up with this. Came out better than I thought.

Since I've been wearing nothing of note lately, on my day off I threw back on the outfit I wore on Saturday. I didn't get a chance to document it at the time, so why not? This is my take on menswear for women. I guess it's more like 1930's menswear for women with the high waist pants. Even though these pants could easily be put in the "mom jeans" category, I can't stop wearing them. But when has that ever stopped me? I wear a lot of pants that look like mom jeans.
No. Shame.

I'm so freaking ecstatic that these are now part of my shoe collection. I'd been searching for a long while for a pair that reminded me of The Pied Piper. The others just didn't make the cut. Am I the only one that looks at the loafers and see The Pied Piper? Probably. I tend to see a correlation with clothing and obscure references.
Maybe I'll turn my rats on those who have scorned me.

I know I've said this over and over, but I really miss blogging. It used to be one of the biggest parts of my life and not doing it regularly really makes sad. So I'm going to try to update more, mostly for me, because I love it.

I hope the start of your week is going well. If you're down, here's Catbug. He never fails to cheer me up:

Vintage sweater, Target jeans, gifted purse, and thrifted Timberland boots.

So, I'm officially horrible at blogging, but to be fair the weather really hasn't been in my favor. It makes me dress like a normal person (yuck). This is the first time I've worn a real outfit in ages. If this even qualifies as a real outfit. Mostly I hate this time of year because I have to take photos inside and they always look like poop.

Anyway, let me talk about how much I love these pants. I love that there is a sequin stripe down the side. Brian says they are marching band pants and I legitimately had a 5 minute argument with him about it. I said they were pants that Mick Jagger would wear. Totally right (AGREE WITH ME)? That's what I think of and they make me feel like a British rockstar. In the winter I frequently find myself trying to look like a dirty rockstar. Alter ego or just crazy?

Speaking of things Brian doesn't care for - this sweater. The popcorn sweater. It's been on my blog plenty of times and each time I think I love it more. It's hideously 80's and tacky, which is basically my second language. It even has the shoulder pads still. I refuse to take them out. Usually I take shoulder pads out of most things, but the thought of shoulder pads in a sweater was just too hilarious.

FUN FACT: I really enjoyed airbrushing the teriyaki sauce that was all over my chin from dinner. I didn't realize it was there.

If you were curious, I'll tell you the reason I was laughing in this last photo. I don't hide the fact that I love anime, so if you don't you can jump ship now. I was listening to the theme song to this great anime parody. If only there was a real show like that.
I hope you are surviving winter!

influenster jolly voxbox

A few weeks ago I received my very first VoxBox from Influenster! I signed up to the website a few months ago for fun and didn't really expect too much. You unlock badges, link to your social media, and review products you like. Then, they give you an overall score. The higher the score the more likely you are to be selected to receive a VoxBox. I was so surprised the my score was so high and that I got selected. I was pretty excited.
Just so you know, I'm not being paid by Influenster to write this. I earned this box in my spare time and all the opinions of the products are 100% my own.

1. Puffs Ultra Soft & Strong To Go Pack: retails for $0.49
Let me start off by saying Puffs is what we buy for our apartment. So, getting a To Go pack was extremely exciting for me. I know, I'm getting excited over tissues, but let me explain. When I'm out and about and I spill something, or a runny nose strikes, I'm always unprepared. These went straight into my purse and became a life saver.

2. Rimmel London Show Off Lip Lacquer in Stargazer: retails for $5.50-$5.99
To be honest, I've only used this lip lacquer a couple of times since I received it. I'm not really a fan of lip gloss texture. However, if you like it, this is a good product. It has the color of a lipstick and the shine of a gloss. It's not sticky and it's really easy to layer over other lip colors. Plus, I love the packing - I'm always a sucker for that!

3. Ducklings Duct Tape Mini Roll: retails for $2-$3
I thought this little roll of zebra striped duct tape was a really fun idea. However, I tried to wrap my Christmas presents with it and became super frustrated. The tape was extremely hard to cut and was super gluey. The glue made it hard to cut and remove from the scissors. Then, it wouldn't stick to the paper and kept falling off. Overall, cute idea but a dud.

4. NYC HD Color Eyeshadow Trio in Long Beach Sands: retails for $2-$3
I was super-excited to try out this eyeshadow trio since I never have tried NYC's eyeshadow before. I was pretty disappointed. The shadows were extremely powdery and made a pretty big mess. They also feel super grainy in the pan, which is something I'm not a fan of. The color payoff was okay, not the greatest, but you can still see the shadows. I actually really like the highlight color and thought it was the best of the bunch. It does its job and blends very well. The dark brown which they label as the "lid" color (that confuses me. The dark was the lid color and the lighter taupe was the crease color. Pretty backward) isn't bad either. I used it to darken my crease, and it did just that. The biggest dud is definitely the bottom taupe shadow. You can tell by the photo that it's the most granular of the bunch. It made the biggest mess and didn't really show up on my lid too well. Overall, I wouldn't go out and repurchase this product. I think my money would probably go to a higher quality ELF product at the same price point.

5. Skinny Cow Peanut Butter Creme Candy: retails for $3.99
Oh my goodness.
I've never tried anything by Skinny Cow and have always wanted to. Unfortunately, it's the last thing I think about when I'm out shopping. This box was the first thing I saw when I opened the package and I was so excited. THEY ARE SO DELICIOUS. Normally, lower fat chocolate is not creamy and has a weird texture, but these candies are so creamy. The peanut butter too! It says "divine" right on the box and I'd have to agree with that. I would definitely buy these again.

I know this post was filled with a lot of words! I'm sorry for that and thanks for bearing with me. I just wanted to make sure I gave an in-depth review of the products in case you've been wanting to try them out. I know the Rimmel Lip Lacquer is new and sometimes reviews of new products are hard to find.

If you want to earn your own VoxBox you can sign up for Influenster here.
I hope you're having a great start to the week! If you're curious, here is my unboxing video:

Vintage 1950's satin and tulle dress, vintage 1940's coat, vintage clutch from my grandmother, and Aldo suede pumps.

Out of all the dresses I pulled out of my closet to wear on New Year's Eve, this one seemed to epitomize the night to me.
The midnight blue tulle with bright flashes of peach satin, reminded me of all the glitz that pierces the winter night on New Year's Eve. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but that's what I do. I look at a garment and it tells me a story.
I also was pumped to wear it because I only have once since I got it tailored LAST January.

All dolled up with my coat on Brian said that I looked like I had walked off the set of a historical TV show. That was the best compliment he could ever give me.

I hope the first week of 2014 was a wonderful one for you. It's been a pretty quiet one here because of the horrible weather. I was barely at work the past week! Awful!
