my compass spins the wilderness remains

vintage dress, Kathy van Zeeland bag, Icing sunglasses, and Restricted Footwear wedges.

Took these photos on one of my favorite tree lined streets in my little city. It was one of those perfectly seasonable days, so I wore a perfectly seasonable dress to match. My boy and I were actually planning on taking pictures somewhere else, but walking back to the car after brunch I couldn't resist.
We spent the day eating at our favorite restaurant, and wandering around Park Ave (Not the Park Ave that you think). After, we ended up at the mall. I know it's tragic but Brian and I are mall rats. We go to all the malls in our area to wander aimlessly and complain. Mostly our complaints start with "kids these days..." I guess we're just an old couple at heart. Another thing is, we don't actually live in the city, we live about 10 minutes away. But, we spend most of our weekend hanging out there and I need to take pictures downtown more often. There are so many beautiful spots.

Anyway, this dress is a recent addition to my closet but it's already one of my favorites. It's so comfortable, not to mention comfortable for my wallet. It was only $2.50. It's a great piece to have for dressing down in the daytime, and dressing up at night. I can already picture myself in some saucy heels, hair down, and a jacket at night.

Well my prison sentence to my bedroom while my boy had his friend over is officially completed. So I'll be heading off to eat my favorite nightcap, Twizzler's Pull and Peel.

Tara Jarmon for Target sundress, Charlotte Russe giraffe print flats, Rue 21 sunglasses, and gifted Gap bag.

These photos were taken on Sunday during the beginning of a scorching heat wave. Let me tell you, there is nothing better to wear on a hot day than a cotton sundress. Something that still looks chic, but something you don't have to think about. We snapped these photos after a very busy day, and when the sun was starting to set we realized we should take the photos we'd been planning.
Once it reaches 85+ there is no way I can wear heels. I wanted to share my new shoes with you during this post, but it was just too hot. I give props to the girls that can pull it off, my feet just swell up. Today it's a breezy 79 so maybe I'll throw my new shoes on and take some photos.
I hope you all are enjoying your Summer, I'm trying to make the most of mine but I've been so busy! Hoping I can fit a swim in soon.

it was one hundred degrees as we sat beneath a willow tree

Thrifted silk blouse, H&M cotton skirt, Restricted Footwear wedges, Forever 21 connector ring, and Icing sunglasses.

After a busy Saturday afternoon with my boy, we decided to rest and cool off underneath the shade of a big poplar tree. Lounging and talking turned into an impromptu photo shoot and consequent goofiness. Mostly our conversations were about the pizza place we had eaten at earlier. They thought it was weird that the two of us wanted to order a whole pizza and not slices, and were very apprehensive of us with our strange eating habits.
Anyway, my camera really didn't pick up how shockingly vibrant my purple shirt is. When I found it lost in the racks at Goodwill my mother stated: "Now that's purple!" Or something to that effect. I love vibrant 80's colors and I love silk button ups, so this shirt = perfect. Button ups are the perfect shirt to seamlessly fit into any wardrobe. They can be worn with pretty much anything and everything.
One last thing to say before I bid you adieu for now, the bling on my skirt takes it from pretty to AWESOME.

Take care and enjoy the summer weather!

Cheap shoes.

So sadly I haven't had a chance to experiment with my photos. Tomorrow I promise. So for now I have some mediocre pics of the outfit I wore to my Nutcracker cast party. I actually thought this outfit was pretty casual, for me anyway. I wear this dress to school all the time. Well, compared to the other people at the party, I was way overdressed, which makes me sad. All the girls were wearing jeans and uggs...not my kind of party outfit. *sigh*

These picture definitely don't do this dress justice. My camera didn't capture the lush purple color of the dress. The flash probably has something to do with that. You can't really see it but by the bow there is great bib detailing and I love the chiffon. Probably one of my favorite dresses.

There's lots of cat hair on my clothes.

Usually I'm not the biggest fan of cheap shoes, but when I worked at Charlotte Russe I saw these babies and couldn't resist. I thought they were so unique and loved the color combo, so I snatched them up for $4.00 on clearance. They're a little big but actually very comfortable.

Dress- Forever 21 twist
Shoes- Charlotte Russe
Roped belt- vintage
Tights- Target

Lately I've been reading tons of other fashion blogs and am realizing I am totally amature with my style. What blogs do you read?

PS for some reason the shoe pic wouldn't work for me, so sorry it's out of frame.
