M Missoni sweater dress, thrifted turtleneck, Target tights, and vintage 60's go-go boots

As you can tell by my outfit, it hasn't warmed up here at all. I'm still donning tights and boots while I wait for everything to thaw. Honestly though, I've been dying to wear these boots. When I first started to get into vintage, I never really cared for vintage footwear. These days, I can't get enough. I'm so lucky to have found a pair of go-go boots in my size! Everything about them is perfect. The soft leather, the square toe and the lacing up the side. I feel like Nancy Sinatra should pop out and start singing.

Fun fact: in the 1960's the concept of the fashion boot was revolutionary. Women only wore boots during bad weather or for riding. With the introduction of the Go-Go and Chelsea styles, fashion boots skyrocketed to mainstream success. Since then boots have been a staple in every woman's wardrobe. I love learning about vintage fashion so much. I could seriously write a Wikipedia page with my knowledge.

I'm pretty bummed about the weather, I'm sure everyone who lives here is. The leaves haven't even started to bloom yet. Flowers are just barely peeking out of the ground. It's affected me and my outfits. I haven't been at the top of my game lately. I hope the weather is better wherever you live and if you live here, I hope you're coping better than I am.

Target dress, tights and boots, and Forever 21 hat.

I've had these photos since last week but unfortunately a few stressful days have put them on the back burner.
I've said this before, but sometimes there is something magical about wearing all black. It comforts me. Maybe it's because I prefer to wear my dark side on my sleeve (literally), than to keep it tucked away.
I found this dress at Target when I wasn't looking for any clothing. I couldn't pass it up. It's the epitome of my perfect little black dress. A little gothic and a little girly. It reminded me of American Horror Story: Coven or just witches in general.

The hat was a last minute decision, but it ended up being hard to wear. Every time the wind picked up the hat almost blew away!
Here's a bonus jonas photo of that:

I hope you're having a better week than I am. I'm actually excited for some cooler temperatures so I can wear my sweater dresses that have been locked away!

Kohl's Vera Wang Princess sweater, thrifted Olsenboye dress, vintage 1900's necklace, and Betsey Johnson platforms.

I have been patiently waiting for about six months to wear this dress. I bought it a long while ago for 60 cents, I shit you not. Last week it was finally warm enough to wear it! But as a result of sitting in my closet waiting, it got all wrinkled! Oh well, you win some and lose some.

The only way anyone could possibly use the word "tall" when describing me is when I wear these platforms. They have been one of my favorites for years now and not just because they make me a little taller. They are probably the most impractical footwear for a girl who walks around like a baby colt in flats. It's okay - if you see me fall, you can laugh. The platform on these are not all black like these photos would have you believe. Here's a better pic:

Funny little side story I'll share with you. It's pretty stupid, so click away now!  Looking at these photos, I realized the skin on my legs is still messed up (you probably can't tell but I can) from almost two years ago.
That was when Brian and our close friend decided to go hiking in a park we'd never been to before. It was getting dark and the boys (can't let them do anything) decided it would be faster if we cut through the woods. Google Maps indicated a clearing not that far from where we were. After 15 minutes, it became clear there wasn't an easy way and mud started to stick to our shoes. Soon the mud was up to our knees and razor grass was sticking to our legs and ripping the skin open (I had jean shorts on that were pretty small and clearly was suffering the most). After about 45 minutes, lots of compass wielding, and angry grunts, we reached the clearing. Which was NOT A CLEARING AT ALL. It was a mother effing swamp. Obviously disgruntled and fumbling in the dark, we slumped against a tree to regroup. We decided to call the cops, who informed us that they couldn't do anything because we were smack in the middle of the woods. They couldn't call for us or easily send someone in to help. I proceeded to drop my phone in the disgusting swamp gunk and almost didn't recover it. Dan (our friend) decided it would be best to just follow the compass in one direction until we reached the end of the woods. It was the only thing we could do. He led us, while Brian and I screamed at each other (poor Dan). It was not my best moment, but my legs were being ripped apart by razor grass.
We ended up getting out of the death woods and almost cried when we did. A cop was nice enough to find us and drive us back to our cars which ended up being 7 MILES AWAY from where we ended up.
Afterward, I bought 3 packs of Hostess Orange Cupcakes (before they went under) and binge ate them while sitting in a ball. We also took super long showers and started vacantly all night while contemplating what the hell we were doing with our lives. The cuts I got from that night were absolutely horrific and people would stop me on the street and asked what happened. I've never been embarrassed to say it, but it definitely makes me look stupid. That's because it was stupid.
Moral of this story: don't let boys convince you that a dumb idea is a good one.

Goodness. I hope you enjoyed that and if you didn't, here is a song by an amazing fictional band:

Vintage 1950's dress, vintage 40's necklace that belonged to my grandmother, hand me down belt, and vintage Ferragamo flats.

I took these self portraits during some downtime at work with my little old point and shoot. I used it for 3 years on this blog. I missed it a little - it does take some decent photos. It's just much easier to manage self-shots with than my DSLR.

I'm obsessed with this dress. I love everything about it. I especially love that it's just see-through enough to have to wear a slip underneath. I think slips should make a comeback. They're just like a little piece of everyday luxury, like a little secret to keep for yourself. Maybe I'm reading into it too much, but that's what I do. I overanalyze until it kills me.

Lastly, this little man-belt has been the best accessory of my lifetime. I have a matching one in brown and they actually used to be Brian's. I've worn it on the blog numerous times and even more time off the blog. I love bringing a touch of man to an otherwise girly outfit.

My funny bone seems a little worn down at the moment so I'm sorry if this post was pretty boring. I'm still recovering from a busy, busy March! I hope you're having a great week!

mush

This post is going to be a little different than usual. Today is a special day for me. It's my 6th anniversary with Brian.

He's my loyal photographer.

He puts up with me getting side tracked by pretty clothes at the store (and even holds them for me).

He even gives me yes/no advice when I send him photos like this:

I don't know how I got lucky enough to find such a great man who understands me. Eccentricities and all. More importantly, one that supports me and all the crazy dreams that I have.
Brian, I love you. More than I could ever put into words. Thank you for putting up with me the past six years.

Here are some photos of us from 2008. When we first met.

Thank you for reading this. I normally don't get to personal and I hope you enjoyed it.
I hope you had a wonderful week.

Thrifted Free People maxi dress, Target suede booties, Five Below sunglasses, and vintage necklace.

These photos were obviously taken before the blizzard came and obliterated any hope of seeing some green grass again.
It was pretty nice on this particular day and when it's nice a lot of people are out peeking at what I'm doing.
It's always funny to see different people's reactions to taking photos on the street. Some stare, some are nice and cross the street so they don't get in your way, and then some people just make you laugh.
That afternoon, an older man with his windows down blaring 70's southern rock (I approved) started yelling unintelligible nonsense at me. Whether he was drunk or cat-calling remains a mystery.

I could not believe I found this Free People dress as Salvation Army for $2.50! The main reason I bought it was because it reminds me of long underwear. I like that. Is that weird? Yes, probably weird.
Another thing that's weird is this necklace. My grandma gave it to me and it was hers. But we don't know where it came from and why there are two men baking bread molded on it. That's kind of strange, but fascinating.

I hope you survived the blizzard - I stayed home from work and it took me two hours to dig out my car today! Ugh. Here's a great southern rock song to honor good ol' drunkard McGee.
